Founded in 2020, Genoa Capital is a hedge fund manager based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The firm was founded by a mixture of former portfolio managers of Itau Hedge Plus at Itau Asset Management, and portfolio managers at Kapitalo Investimentos. Its investment philosophy is to utilize a macro trading strategy, focusing on short/mid-term market fluctuations and trends. The firm has 5 main portfolio managers responsible for taking the majority of risk within the portfolio but also gives space to co-managers, who have a lower portion of risk taken and are able to implement investment ideas according to their own discretion. Its geographical focus is to operate within the Brazilian markets, where the firm understands to have a comparative advantage, however, sporadic positions in emerging markets may be explored when portfolio managers see an opportunity.
