Derwent Capital Markets was an investment boutique that specialised in trading financial derivatives. The company was founded in 2008 by co-owner Paul Hawtin. Derwent Capital Markets managed Derwent Absolute Return Fund, a hedge fund vehicle that used computer algorithms to predict the movements of financial markets by analysing comments on Twitter. This fund was liquidated one month after its launch in order for the founders to offer its trading signals to day traders. The new system will overlay Derwent's Twitter-based measurements on IG Group's spread trading platform.
