Blue Pool Capital is a Hong Kong-based hedge fund manager established in 2004. It invests in multiple strategies focused primarily on Asia ex-Japan long/short equity and special situations for its group of close-knit long-term investors, including co-owners Alexander West and Oliver Weisberg, as well as capital provided by Alibaba Chairman Jack Ma and Vice Chairman, Joseph Tsai. The firm managed more than $1 billion of assets under management before reducing outside capital in 2008 and 2011. It currently makes both public and private equity investments exclusively for existing clients, either directly or through allocations to outside funds.
