BlackRock is a US-based private equity firm and investment management, risk management, and advisory firm serving institutional and retail clients globally. Under The Blackstone Group, the firm initially focused on fixed income. In 1992, it became BlackRock and went public in 1999. Headquartered in New York, BlackRock has a significant presence in North and South America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East and Africa. The firm manages a wide range of investment strategies, including private equity, private debt, hedge funds, and real assets. BlackRock's private equity arm, BlackRock Capital Partners, invests in various strategies such as venture capital, buyouts, and distressed debt. The firm also operates BlackRock Alternative Investors, offering diverse hedge fund strategies and alternative mutual funds. In 2016, BlackRock established a real assets group to integrate infrastructure and real estate investments. The firm’s infrastructure investments cover renewable energy, transport, and social infrastructure, aiming for long-term, stable cash flows. BlackRock Real Estate invests in strategies across the risk/return spectrum in both the public and private markets worldwide. It directly invests in both traditional and niche property sectors with investment strategies ranging from core to opportunistic.
