Big Tree Capital is a California-based hedge fund manager that focuses on equity investments in emerging and frontier markets. The firm was founded in Q4 of 2006 by Kevin Carter, former CEO of AlphaShares, a platform offering China-focused ETFs in partnership with Guggenheim Investments. He has also founded active investment advisors which were acquired by Natixis, and Baochuan Capital which was recently reformed as WaveFront Capital, having begun his career as an equity analyst at Robertson Stephens. From the founding until October 2011, the firm managed the Big Tree Partners before returning money to investors and focusing on proprietary trading and research. As of June 2013, the firm launched two private investment funds, Big Tree Capital Opportunity Fund I, and Big Tree Capital Emerging Markets Fund. In June 2015, the firm discontinued the operation of the Big Tree Capital Emerging Markets Fund.
