Barclays Private Credit Partners was the private debt arm of Barclays Bank PLC. It was formerly known as Barclays Structured Principal Investing LLC. The firm was sold in December 2013 and is no longer active. Barclays Private Credit Partners launched its first private debt fund in 2008, named Barclays Private Credit Partners. The primary strategy of the firm was direct lending, with Barclays Private Credit Partners targeting primarily North America but also Europe-focused opportunities. Typical portfolio companies included small to mid-market businesses with strong and stable cashflows in need of capital for expansion, mergers and acquisitions or restructuring. Barclays Private Credit Partners did not commonly seek any kind of control over portfolio companies but did target equity participation in the form of stocks and warrants.
