ACK Asset Management (ACK) is a Connecticut-based hedge fund manager founded in October 2005 by Rich Meisenberg, a 51% partner with a 20-year background investing in small-cap companies, and John Reilly, a 49% partner looking to make the transition from the sell-side to buy-side. The firm utilizes in-depth, bottom-up research on US-based small-capitalized companies. ACK aims to find small-cap US-based companies that are misunderstood or under the radar of Wall Street, with solid growth potential, embedded catalysts, or inflection points. Small-cap companies make up a large percentage of publicly traded equities. But in recent years, Wall Street coverage has been dramatically reduced, managers have moved up the market cap curve, and passive investing often creates large dislocations.
