Based in Munich, Germany, and founded by Cornelius Patt (CEO) in 1999 zooplus SE is an e-retailer offering an online marketplace of pet products. In 2004, the company launched its private-label brand portfolio. In May 2008, zooplus AG began trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol ZO1, at EUR 26 per share. In October 2021, Hellman & Friedman and EQT made a joint bid to fully acquire zooplus AG for approximately EUR 3.
7 billion in cash, or EUR 480 per share, in a public-to-private transaction. The firm, as of February 2024, has offices in Germany, Austria, Spain, the UK, Luxembourg, Italy, and the Netherlands and it supplies its products to over 30 European countries. The range of products offered by zooplus includes pet supplies, pet food, and accessories such as pet supplements, snacks, treats, accessories, cages, and toys for dogs, cats, birds, aquatic pets, and small pets such as rabbits and rodents, in the European Union region.
