In August 2018, FM Restaurants HoldCo, LLC, a portfolio company of Z Capital Group, agreed to acquire Real Mex Restaurants, Inc. 's assets through a court-supervised auction as part of the restructuring process for USD 46.

In March 2023, Xperience Restaurant Group acquired Texas-Based Rio Mambo Tex Mex y Mas and The Rim Scratch Craft Eats. As of October 2018, the company's CEO is Randy Sharpe. The Company develops, manufactures, and distributes proprietary Mexican food products to quick service and casual dining restaurants, amusement parks, and club stores, as well as food service, retail, vending, and institutional customers. XRG's portfolio of brands includes Acapulco, Chevys Fresh Mex, El Torito, El Torito Grill, Las Brisas, Who Song & Larry's, Sinigual, SOL Cocina, Solita, Rio Mambo, The RIM Scratch Craft Eats, Best Mexican Restaurants, Best Taco Tuesday, and Best Happy Hours across various national media outlets.
