Woodoo

Based in Paris, France, and founded in 2016 by CEO Timothee Boitouzet, Woodoo is a manufacturer of composite materials based on wood targeting luxury goods, automotive, and construction industries. In April 2023, Woodoo raised an undisclosed amount of venture funding led by new investor Lowercarbon Capital, with participation from another new investor Purple Ventures. Returning investor ONE CREATION and unspecified investors also participated in the round. The round was part of a larger USD 31 million equity and debt funding.

Woodoo's product line includes a range of engineered timber solutions, including the SLIM, FLOW, and SOLID technology platforms. The company's augmented industrial materials require four times less embodied energy to process than steel, are carbon-negative, and trap one ton of CO2 per cubic meter of wood. Woodoo uses a proprietary soaking process to remove most of the lignin from fast-growing, low-grade, or even diseased wood (Beech, Birch, Aspen, Pine) leaving behind a cellulose scaffold and hemicellulose. WOODOO's flagship product, STACK, is a high-performance alternatives to steel, aluminum, and concrete for both cladding and structural applications.

The company plans to use its proceeds from April 2023 for business growth and operational expansion.
