About

Based in Bradford, UK, and founded in 1899 by William Morrison, Wm Morrison Supermarkets Limited, trading under the name Morrisons, is a supermarket chain that retails groceries. It began as a stall, selling eggs and butter, and gradually the business expanded into a small group of Bradford market stall. In 1952, Ken Morrison took over the business from his father and was able to grow the business into a supermarket by 1961. In October 2021, Clayton, Dubilier, and Rice (CD&R) won the bid to acquire the company in a public-to-private transaction, for approximately GBP 9. 7 billion and was consequently delisted from the London stock exchange. As of November 2021, the company is being led by David Potts, as its CEO. The firm has 497 stores across the UK, and also has eight regional distribution centers and one national distribution center.
