About
Founded in 2016 and based in Ontario, Canada, Vena Medical develops a small camera for physicians capable of going inside veins and arteries of patients for treating a stroke. The company was founded by Michael Phillips and Phillip Cooper and raised a Seed funding of USD 120,000 in Jan 2019 from Y Combinator. The company develops a forward viewing imaging microcatheter to allow physicians to see inside patients blood vessels and perform surgeries and intravascular procedures. The microcatheter uses bleeding edge fiber optics and a saline flush in order to give physicians a point of view of their tools and provides a first-person navigational perspective for physicians, allowing them to inspect their work once they're done.
Vena Medical plans to shrink the device down from 2mmto 1mm which will allow physicians to operate on smaller veins and arteries throughout the body.
