Founded in 2016 and based in California, US, Upwing Energy technology utilises magnetic systems that provide real-time information on thrust loads from the compressor, support hydraulic section thrust loads, and increase the output of natural gas wells from downhole environments, enabling clients to grow the volume of mass flow and ultimate recovery from wells. In June 2024, Upwing Energy raised venture funding from investors Equinor Ventures. As of November 2024, the company is led by CEO Herman Artinian. Upwing Energy offers a subsurface compressor system (SCS), an artificial lift technology to increase production and reserves efficiently.

The SCS works alongside Upwing’s Enhanced Production Simulator (EPS), which uses data-driven analytical models to forecast the behaviour of a gas well under various conditions. These predictive tools facilitate well site analysis and guide operational decisions, enhancing production outcomes and reservoir management. Additionally, Upwing’s services extend to the initial analysis, planning, deployment, and startup of the SCS, followed by ongoing remote monitoring and operational adjustments. Real-time data collected from well and reservoir activities is processed at the control centre to ensure well integrity and optimal system performance.

The company will use the November 2024 funding to accelerate natural gas well production.
