Founded in 2022 by co-founders Ariel Leventhal and Shachar Mendelowitz and based in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel, Universal Grammar Ltd. , doing business as UG Labs, provides a platform that leverages advanced AI to create deep, generative, and safe content tailored specifically for each child. Its engine offers conversations and interactions that adapt to the child's developmental level and imagination. In March 2024, UG Labs raised USD 7 million in seed funding led by investor Amiti Ventures, with participation from other investors MediaTek Ventures and MoreVC.

UG Labs' flagship product is its AI conversational engine, which enables personalised interactions between children and digital interfaces. The platform has features such as speech recognition tailored to children’s voices, adaptive learning capabilities, and generative graphics that visually complement conversations. The technology also supports the creation of lifelike personas for characters in toys, games, and educational applications. Additionally, the company offers tools for customising conversational experiences, including voice design, graphic modelling, and gameplay interaction.

UG Labs also provides advanced safety features such as on-device voice anonymisation, PII sanitation, and strict content moderation to ensure compliance with child safety standards like COPPA and certification by the kidSAFE Seal Program. The company will use the March 2024 funding to integrate conversational AI and voice interactivity into children's games.
