Based in Taipei, Taiwan, and founded in 2016 by Tien-haw Peng, Ubiik Inc. operates as an AMI vertical solutions provider for Taiwan's smart electricity meter deployment, they have offices in Silicon Valley and Osaka, Japan. Since late 2019 Ubiik's vertical AMI solution has also successfully landed in Japan and is now expanding to markets in the US, India, Middle East, and ASEAN. In April 2021, the company received Series A funding led by Taiwania Capital.
Ubiik's smart electricity meter device includes weightless end device modules and weightless base stations using Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology to connect thousands of devices to one base station, enabling users to develop their own custom solutions. The Series A funding received in April 2021 will be used for the global expansion of its AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) technology and energy IoT solutions, as well as growing its cellular IoT business. Ubiik is tasked to deploy its AMI system for 600,000 electricity meters by 2022, of which more than 200,000 are already online.
