About

Based in Utah, US, and founded in 2021 by co-founders Nate Walkingshaw and Gilbert Lee, Torus Inc. is a renewable energy solutions provider for the home, business, and large-scale utility industries that develops, creates, and produces energy storage and management devices. In September 2025, Torus Inc. raised USD 200 million in venture funding led by new investor Magnetar Capital.

Torus Inc. offers the Torus Station, a smart battery storage system designed to optimize energy use and reduce reliance on the traditional grid. The Torus App allows users to monitor energy use and system performance in real time. Additionally, Torus provides customer support with assigned Torus guides to address any questions or issues.

The Torus Station allows homeowners and businesses to store excess solar energy generated during the day and use it during peak hours. The app allows users to track their energy use in real-time, configure energy goals, and integrate smart home devices like thermostats and EV chargers for optimised energy use. The Torus Station provides backup power during grid outages, ensuring critical loads like appliances or business operations remain functional. Torus generates revenue through the sale and deployment of modular power plants, ongoing operations and maintenance services, and software subscriptions for energy management.

Its solutions also enable cost savings for clients via demand charge reduction and grid support services, creating recurring revenue opportunities. The company plans to use the September 2025 funding to develop decentralized energy systems for industrial and commercial sites. The company plans to scale manufacturing capacity in Utah, expand partnerships with utilities, and enhance its AI-driven energy management platform. Torus aims to position itself as a key player in distributed energy infrastructure, targeting sectors like defense, data centers, and large-scale commercial operations.
