And in May 2019, it raised venture funding co-led by new investors Blockchain.com Ventures and Samsung NEXT Ventures, with participation from Igen Fusion Capital, UpHonest Capital, and Wei Fund. The company is led by Mitch Liu, CEO and co-founder of Gameview Studios (acquired by DeNA) and Tapjoy (acquired by ironSource). Theta Labs offers a Web3 blockchain infrastructure for video, media, and entertainment that enables existing video platforms to drive incremental revenues and reduce content delivery CDN costs while end-users are rewarded for sharing their bandwidth to relay video on a peer-to-peer basis on any PC, mobile, Smart TV, or IoT device. The company intends to use the funding raised in 2019 to launch new offices in Seoul, London, and Singapore as well as secure local partnerships both in Asia and Europe.
