Tanji

Established in 2021 and based in Shanghai, China, Tanji operates as a hydrogen fuel cell carbon paper core material developer that provides carbon paper and gas diffusion layer products. Yongyi Jiang is the founder of the company, and he graduated from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and has ten years of professional experience in hydrogen energy and fuel cells. In December 2022, the first rolls of Tanji's domestically produced carbon paper were delivered and shipped. In May 2023, the company completed series A+ funding.

In July 2025, Tanji closed a pre-series B funding led by new investor CICC Capital. Returning investor Simmitview Capital also participated in the round. Tanji provides carbon paper and gas diffusion layer products. Its product are divided into charcoal paper series and GDL series.

Charcoal paper series include CPM16, CPM19 and CPM25. GDL series include HP16, HP18, HP21 and HP28. The company also offers dipping and extrusion line, continuous heat treatment line, multi-stage continuous balanced molding line, and carbonized graphitization line and precision non-destructive coating line. The company generates revenue from the sale of carbon paper and gas diffusion layer products to hydrogen fuel cell manufacturers.

The company also earns from equipment sales and custom processing services related to GDL production. In July 2025, Tanji closed a venture funding round, led by new investor CICC Capital, and returning investor Simmitview Capital also joint in this round.
