Based in The Hague, Netherlands, T-Mobile Netherlands B. V. (T-Mobile NL) is a mobile phone company that was founded in 2000 when Deutsche Telekom AG acquired a stake in a venture called Ben NL with Belgacom SA and Tele Danmark. The venture was later renamed T-Mobile Netherlands B.
V. in 2003 after Deutsche Telekom acquired the remaining stake. Apart from organic growth, the company has expanded through M&A, including the acquisition of Thuis in 2016, merging with Tele2 Nederland BV in January 2019 with Tele2 and Deutsche Telekom owning 25% and 75% stakes respectively, and acquiring the Dutch MVNO Simpel in 2020. As of September 2021, Soren Abildgaard leads the company as its CEO.
In 2021, Apax Partners and Warburg Pincus agreed to acquire T-Mobile Netherlands B. V. from Tele2 and Deutsche Telekom, valuing T-Mobile Netherlands B. V at EUR 5.
1 billion. T-Mobile Netherlands B. V. is a mobile network operator that offers wireless data connection services, broadband internet, and interactive tv subscriptions, as well as unlimited 5G connection.
Apart from the internet and mobile communication services, it also offers business solutions to enterprises. Following the agreement to be acquired by Apax Partners and Warburg Pincus in September 2021, T-Mobile Netherlands B. V. intends to operate as an independent company as it continues to expand its business through innovation.
