Based in Limburg, Belgium, and founded in 2021 by its CEO Dr. Fanny Bardé and co-founder Huw Hampson-Jones, operates as a battery manufacturer used in a variety of transportation applications from automobiles to aerospace, oceans, and space. In May 2022, Solithor raised EUR 10 million in seed funding led by new investor Imec. xpand, with participation from other new investors FPIM, LRM, and Nuhma.
As of June 2022, the company has a team of 20 people that operates in Leuven and EnergyVille in Genk. Solithor develops, manufactures, and commercializes SOLID-STATE lithium cell technology based on breakthrough chemistry and components– the nano-Solid Composite Electrolyte and the nano-anode, spearheaded within the EnergyVille labs and patented by imec. The technology will improve energy density, charging speeds, and crucially, increase safety. The company's batteries are used in different sectors such as automotive, aviation, maritime, and space.
The company will use the seed funding to develop the technologies needed to continue the electrification of the transportation industry and provide solutions to address current issues regarding scope, performance, durability, and safety.
