Based in Shandong, China and founded in 2018, Smart Satellite Technology Co. , Ltd. , trading under the name Smart Satellite, was established by a team primarily composed of members from the China Academy of Space Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The founder and CEO of the company, Likun Liu graduated from Tsinghua University and has worked in York University.

The company's core team employees have work experience in the Fifth Aerospace Academy, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the National University of Defense Technology. In September 2026, Smart Satellite raised a Strategic funding led by Hangshi Group, with participation from West Lake Yunchuang Group and Hangzhou Xihu District Science and Technology Equity Investment. The company mainly provides satellite products and MiniSAR products. Smart Satellite has successfully launched Smart Satellite 1A and Smart Satellite 3A.

The MiniSAR products include MiniSAR+ Drone products and MiniSAR flight services. The company also provides SAR data processing services and SAR-based remote sensing application solutions. The services can be used for flood monitoring, offshore vessel and oil spill monitoring.
