Based in Skovde, Sweden, and founded in 2018, Simumatik AB provides a platform that enables users to design, test, and validate automation systems without the need for physical hardware, streamlining development and reducing cost. In October 2024, Virtualware acquired Simumatik from ALMI Invest Skaraborg Invest AB for EUR 1. 37 million. Simumatik’s flagship offering is the Simumatik Platform, a cloud-based solution that allows users to build and interact with digital twins of automated systems.

This platform includes advanced 3D simulation tools, integration with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and support for virtual reality (VR) for immersive user experiences. Users can create virtual environments that replicate real-world automation processes and use them to develop, test, and debug control programs. The platform is designed to serve both educational institutions by enabling remote access and interactive learning and industrial clients who use it for system prototyping, operator training, and system troubleshooting. Simumatik’s revenue is primarily generated through a subscription-based model for its simulation platform.

The acquisition enables Virtualware to fully integrate Simumatik’s capacities and crew, accelerating its position in the real-time 3D enterprise software industry.
