Based in Beijing, China and established in 2014, Beijing Surgerii Robotics Co. , Ltd. , trading as Shurui focuses on the development, manufacture and marketing of minimally invasive surgical robot systems. The founder and CTO (Chief Technology Officer) Prof.


Kai Xu is the professor of Computer at Shanghai Jiaotong University and served as associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Robotics. It has submitted more than 500 intellectual property applications and holds 147 Chinese patents and 40 overseas patents. It has partnerships with Southern Medical University, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Peking Union Medical College Hospital and Hubei Provincial People's Hospital. In December 2025, Shurui raised USD 100 million in Series D funding led by returning investor Loyal Valley Capital, with participation from returning investors Shanghai Healthcare Capital, V Star Capital, DNV Capital and new investor Hefei State-Owned Assets Holding.


Shurui works with healthcare institutions to provide single-port surgical robots featuring snake-arm technology, robotic control platforms, and clinical application support. The company also offers training and technical services for multi-specialty surgical applications. The company’s revenue is generated by sales of surgical robotic systems, maintenance services, and clinical training programs.
