Founded in 2017 and based in Winterthur, Switzerland, Scewo AG operates as a manufacturer of wheelchairs that can climb stairs, lift their seats, and are functional. Thomas Gemperle (CCO and CBO), Bernhard Winter (CEO), and Pascal B. (CTO) are the co-founders of the company.  In December 2023, Scewo AG raised CHF 9.

2 million in Series A funding from RSBG Ventures. Scewo AG caters to various stakeholders, including users, healthcare professionals, insurance providers, and the broader community. The company provides its primary product, the Scewo BRO, which is a stair-climbing wheelchair designed to redefine accessibility and convenience for users. The Scewo BRO represents a fusion of a high-quality power wheelchair with therapeutic benefits and a stair climber, offering a versatile solution that integrates multiple aids.

This mobility device empowers users by providing them with the capability to navigate both indoor and outdoor environments. The company’s key features include a torso stability feature that enables operation on two large wheels even without complete torso stability. The wheelchair's seat lift function facilitates a broad range of movement and enables conversations at eye level, promoting social engagement and interaction. Additionally, its foldable backrest allows for transportation in cars and airplanes, enhancing portability and convenience for users.

The organization plans to use the December 2023 funding to expand its market reach in the US.
