In April 2025, a consortium led by Blackstone Group, along with co-investors CPP Investment Board, CDPQ, Investment Management Corporation of Ontario, Public Sector Pension Investment Board and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation, agreed to acquire a 49. 9% minority stake in Rogers Communications’ internet and wireless unit for CAD 7 billion. The transaction was completed in June 2025.
Following the deal, Rogers Communications, Inc. retained a 50. 1% majority ownership in the business. The unit operates under brands rogers, fido, and chatr, offering a wide range of services including mobile voice and data plans, 5G and LTE connectivity, wireless home internet, and high-speed broadband through its Ignite Internet platform.
