Based in Shanghai, China and founded in 2024, Yimou Biotechnology (Shanghai) Co. , Ltd. , dba Rehydration Therapeutics, is a biotechnology company focusing on small nucleic acid therapeutics with an emphasis on extrahepatic tissue-specific targeted delivery and treatment. The company was jointly established by Professor Chuan Zhang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Professor Jiaxu Hong from the Eye & ENT Hospital of Fudan University.

In May 2026, Rehydration Therapeutics closed a round of angel+ funding led by 3E Bioventures Capital with participation from Furong Capital, and other investors. Rehydration Therapeutics works with the medical research sector to provide nucleic acid drugs, utilizing novel nucleic acid modifications to treat dry eye, corneal dystrophy, thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO), uveitis and macular degeneration. The company has built an AI (artificial intelligence) assisted and nucleic acid modification-based platform for screening extrahepatic targeting molecule, and also a platform for constructing nucleic acid inhibitor targeting specific proteins. The company will use the angel+ funding to advance clinical trials of core pipelines, develop key pipelines and screen and validate candidate pipelines, and improve organizational talent development.
