About
Based in Italy, and founded in 2024 by James Spithill, SailGP Italy Team is a professional sailing team competing in the global SailGP championship. In May 2025, a consortium led by Muse Capital, along with Certuity and YEH Capital, acquired the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team for USD 45 million. SailGP Italy Team participate in global racing championship. SailGP features 12 identical F50 catamarans competing in high-speed, two-day events around the world.
Across its first four seasons, SailGP grew from six teams and five events to 12 teams and 12 events. The Italy team participates in these events with a mixed-gender crew, supported by SailGP’s Women’s Pathway Program. The June 2025 acquisition allows SailGP Italy Team to enhance team's performance.
