In September 2022, Re raised USD 14 million in Seed funding from Defy. vc, Exor Seeds, Framework Ventures, Morgan Creek Capital Management, SiriusPoint, Stratos Ventures, and Tribe Capital, with participation from individual investors. As of September 2022, the company is being led by Karn Saroya, as its CEO.
Re is a fully-collateralized reinsurance market that gives access to investors to invest in pure-risk insurance premiums by backing real-world risks in areas such as chemicals, healthcare, rail, real estate, mining, marine industries, etc by connecting alternative capital providers to the DeFi space by leveraging blockchain technology, smart contracts, and oracle networks. The Re protocol is a web3 application that provides partners, investors, and regulators with complete disclosure surrounding capital position and performance. The company intends to use the September 2022 funding to build a reinsurance underwriting pipeline.
