Based in Douglas, Isle of Man, and founded in 1999 by Teddy Sagi, Playtech plc is a software company that operates as an online gambling software supplier. In 2012, the company got listed in the main market of the London Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol LSE: PTEC, and in October 2021, Aristocrat Leisure Limited agreed to acquire Playtech plc for GBP 2. 7 billion. As of November 2021, the company is being led by Mor Weizer, as its CEO, and employs 6,400 employees, and has offices in 24 countries worldwide.
Playtech plc engaged in the development and distribution of gambling software, and gaming applications for online sites, casinos, government organizations, and other gaming companies. The firm operates through two main segments, B2B, and B2C. B2B segment provides technological solutions (marketing, financial, and administration software) to various gambling operators, whereas, through the B2C segment, the company directly operates and manages various gaming applications including casino games, sports, virtual sports, poker, bingo, etc. Additionally, Playtech plc offers e-marketing solutions, and a trading platform for gaming brokers, and end customers.
The company generated revenue GBP 1,079 million, and GBP 1,441 million in the financial year 2020, and 2019 respectively. The deal with Aristocrat Leisure Limited is expected to be completed by the middle of 2022. The acquisition will provide Playtech plc the capacity to grow in the global online RMG space and expand its market reach.
