Based in Hangzhou, China and established in 2015, Pimax operates as a developer of Pimax VR, Virtual reality (VR) headset. The team has decades of experience in smart devices, including many years of experience in VR headset research and development, and manufacturing. Its branches are located in Shenzhen, China and Silicon Valley, USA. In 2016, its first launches 4K VR headset.
In 2017, it launches 8K VR headset. In 2019, it built overseas warehouse& support Centers, and sold products on the Amazon platform in Japan, The US, and Europe. In 2024, it launches Pimax Crystal Light, Pimax Crystal Super and Pimax Dream Air. In January 2025, Pimax raised CNY 100 million in series C1+ funding led by new investor Zhuji Urban and Rural Investment Group, with participation from returning investor Ivy Capital.
The round was part of a larger CNY 200 million series C funding. The company provides 4K and 8K of VR headsets with ultra Wide 200°field of view, 90Hz native refresh rate, GeForce RTX 3060 or an AMD RX 5700 XT that eliminate the screen-door effect. At present, 8K X VR headset, 5K Super VR headset, and 8k Plus VR headset are on sale in Amazon platform. It also provides Pimax Crystal Light, Pimax Crystal Super and Pimax Dream Air.
The company generates revenue by developing Virtual Reality. The company will use the funds to expand its R&D team in the United States and establish a new R&D platform in Europe.
