Based in Edinburgh, UK, and founded by James Pillans in 1775, Pillans & Wilson Greenaway operates as a printer and publisher of corporate reports and acquisition documents. The firm was backed by 3i among others. Pillans & Wilson became a limited company in 1996, in 1997, it completed a major investment program of GBP 4. 5 million, investing in three new printing presses, and in 1998, it bought a London-based color printing company.
The over 200-year-old company went into receivership in July 1999, followed by its merger with Waddies of Livingston, West Lothian creating Pillans & Waddies in 2002 and closing in 2006. The company prints royal stationery and financial documents for the country’s biggest companies. The company’s 70 percent of the business was corporate work as of 1997, along with a production capacity of 200 annual reports a year.
