Founded in 2018 by Yoon Shin (CEO), and based in Daejeon-City, South Korea, Perigee Aerospace Inc. , previously known as Perigee Rocket and Perigee Aerospace operates as a manufacturer of microsatellites and small launch vehicles for aerospace applications such as earth observation and communications. The company produces the Perigee Blue Whale 1 launch vehicle, which is a methane micro-liquid space rocket that is lighter and smaller than regular rockets and other space launch vehicles and thus requires smaller production facilities. In addition, the company produces high-efficiency liquid engines, lightweight airframe structures, and efficient avionics equipment and software.
