In 1996, TA Associates and ABS Capital invested $35 million to accelerate growth, followed by a management buyout in 2000. The company underwent a major recapitalization in 2004 by Parthenon Capital for $167 million, enabling expansion into healthcare payment integrity.
In 2012, Performant went public on NASDAQ under the ticker PFMT, raising $150 million. Over the next decade, it secured key CMS Recovery Audit Contractor contracts and shifted its focus exclusively to healthcare payment integrity. In 2024, the company rebranded as Performant Healthcare, Inc. , reflecting its healthcare-centric strategy, and in 2025, it was acquired by Machinify, Inc.
for $670 million, marking a new era of AI-driven payment integrity solutions.
