Based in Sydney, Australia, and founded in 2000, Pepper Group aka Pepper Global was founded by Michael Culhane to support the renewal of Australia's rural, regional, and remote communities through partnership with the private sector, government, and philanthropy. Pepper Group Ltd now operates as a specialist loan servicer across a broad range of consumer and real estate loans. In November 2017, KKR, a leading US private equity firm acquires over 50% of the Pepper Group for AUD 675. 9 million.
In May 2021, Pepper group Ltd's Australian arm, Pepper Money Limited, made an Initial Public Offering (IPO) of AUD 500 million on the Australian Exchange under ticker ASX: PPM, and as of June 2021, Michael Culhane remains to be the group CEO of the company. Pepper Group Ltd offers residential mortgages (including reverse mortgages), consumer unsecured and secured loans, commercial real estate (CRE) backed loans, and auto and equipment leases. The firm also provides an online loan portal, debit cards, and many more. Following the listing of Pepper Money Limited on ASX Ltd, KKR and Pepper Group Ltd will retain 60% of the shares in the company.
Pepper Group intends to use the funds raised to pursue growth opportunities and strengthen Pepper Money’s balance sheet by enabling the partial repayment of its existing bridge facility and partial repayment of the existing shareholder loan.
