Established in 2015 and based in Xi'an, China, OEIC is an optoelectronic chip technology company that focuses on compound semiconductors. The company was founded by the Xi'an Institute of Optical Machinery of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province. The company has developed 60 chip technologies, and its R&D services have served more than 60 companies. It has obtained 60 patents and has been awarded the national professional common technology platform and the dual innovation platform.

In July 2024, the company closed a series B funding. The company provides services such as lithography, etching, and thin film preparation of gallium arsenide (GaAs) and other compound semiconductor materials, and at the same time, it has built an engineering innovation platform for advanced photonic devices, which is mainly oriented to optoelectronic devices and develops GaAs- and GaN-based laser chip processes, as well as conducts pilot foundry business. The company generates revenue by providing new materials for optoelectronics, as well as substituting R&D and processing businesses for chips. The company will use the series B funding to upgrade the advanced photonic device engineering innovation platform.
