Based in Guangzhou, China and founded in 2020, Guangzhou Oculotronics Medical Equipment Co. , Ltd. , dba Oculotronics, is a medical device company specializing in the development of ophthalmic surgical robots. The core team is from the Technical University of Munich (Germany), Zurich University of Technology (Switzerland), Sun Yat-sen University and Sun Yat-sen University Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center.
In addition, its core team has more than ten years of experience in software automation, engineering, AI, medicine and other fields. The company successfully conducted the world's first 5G remote micron-sized eye surgery on June 23, 2023. In June 2026, Oculotronics closed nearly CNY 100 million in Series A funding from Essential Capital, Minggui Capital, and other investors. The company self-develop fundus surgery systems, precision drug delivery systems and ophthalmic training systems.
It has also developed a high-precision ophthalmic surgical robot called Clippard that can perform vitreoretinal surgery, intraocular injections, fundus injections, corneal transplants, and cataract surgery. The company generates revenue from the sales of ophthalmic surgical robotics.
