Founded in 1984 by Jean-Pierre Savare, and based in France, Oberthur Technologies (OT) operates as a security technology company that provides solutions and services. In 2011, Advent International acquired 90% of Oberthur for EUR 1. 15 billion. Furthermore, in 2017, Oberthur Technologies and Safran Morpho merged and formed the OT-Morpho group, which renamed IDEMIA.
Currently, the main shareholder of IDEMIA is Advent International. As a digital security company, Oberthur Technologies provides system development services and solutions for smart card systems, mobile financial services, and traditional and electronic identity documents. In detail, smart cards include payment cards, SIM cards, access cards, and NFC. Moreover, identity documents include identity card, passport, and health care card.
