It was originally the Communications Industry Services (CIS) operating unit of Lockheed Martin Corp. , the defense contractor, and in 1999, CIS was divested from Lockheed Martin Corp.
and was renamed NeuStar. Since its inception, the company has made several acquisitions, acquiring Fiducianet, Inc. in February 2005, UbiquitiLink Inc. in November 2017, Verisign Security Services in December 2018, and TrustID, Inc.
in January 2019. In 2005, the company went public on the NYSE under the ticker symbol NSR, and in August 2017, GIC and Golden Gate Capital acquired NeuStar, Inc. for approximately USD 2. 9 billion in cash, or USD 33.
5 per share, in a public-to-private transaction. In September 2021, Trans Union LLC agreed to acquire the company from GIC and Golden Gate Capital for USD 3. 1 billion in cash, the transaction is expected to close in Q4 2021, and as of October 2021, NeuStar, Inc. is being led by Charlie Gottdiener as its CEO.
The company provides cloud-based marketing, risk, communications, and security software solutions for the financial, retail, insurance, travel, government, hospitality, and automotive industries. As of September 2021, Trans Union LLC will support NeuStar, Inc. 's plans for its next phase of growth.
