Through its peer-to-peer networking paradigm, which avoids the gateways frequently used in Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and conventional perimeter-based virtual private networks (VPNs), the platform reduces the complexity of IT infrastructure and networks. In January 2026, NetBird GmbH raised EUR 8. 5 million in series A funding led by new investor Pace Capital, with participation from returning investors Nauta Capital, InReach Ventures, and Antler.

  The business offers an open-source network management technology based on WireGuard that enables computers, devices, and servers to connect directly through a quickly encrypted tunnel without configuration or a centralized VPN server.
