Based in Ontario, Canada, and founded in 2017 by its CEO, Louis Anagnostakos, CFO, Stephen Brown, and CDO, Samer Kamal, Minus Global operates as a distributed food waste solutions company. In February 2022, Minus Global raised CAD 4. 5 million in venture funding led by new investor Kensington Capital Partners, an employee-owned alternative investment firm. Minus Global transforms conventional food waste services through hyperlocal technology—ORCA, which uses microbiology, water, and oxygen to digest food waste onsite. This reduces the overall tonnage of waste disposal that a company needs to haul to the landfill. ORCA reduces waste to a liquid. The remaining effluent goes directly from ORCA down the drain, where it is transported through the sanitary sewer system to the local wastewater treatment plant.
In addition, hyperlocality also reduces the number of kilometers that trucks need to travel for disposal. The company will use venture funding to drive the reduction of food waste and its impact on the environment using proprietary food waste recycling technology.
