Founded in 2019 and based in California, US, Micronoma Inc. operates as a provider of liquid biopsy technology that enables patients with cancer to detect and predict the disease using microbial biomarkers in diagnostics. The company was founded by chief analytic officer Gregory Poore, President and chief executive officer Sandrine Miller-Montgomery and Rob Knight. In August 2020, raised USD 3 million in seed funding led by new investor SymBiosis LLC and in February 2021, Micronoma Inc.

Oncobiota™ reveals the cancer-related microbiome with specificity and sensitivity, unlike the other human genome tests that rely on the size of a tumor. Oncobiota™ uses liquid biopsy technology to detect and predict cancer at an early stage by analyzing a multitude of circulating microbial markers linked to the tumor tissue as well as the host response to cancer.

Micronoma Inc. had proven through its technology that distinct cancer types can be diagnosed solely using microbial nucleic acids in human blood and tissues. While Micronoma’s method is capable of finding more than one cancer type in a single small blood sample, the company is starting its detection service with lung cancer. The company’s future strategy includes the completion of its validation study on lung cancer prediction and creating a clinical laboratory improvement amendments lab.

Micronoma also plans to provide its diagnostic technology to clinicians in the near future.
