Based in Beijing, China and established in 2020, Metis TechBio Co. , Ltd. , dba METiS TechBio, is a drug design, research and development company engaged in the design and optimization of nanomaterials-based drug delivery systems by utilizing its self-developed AI (Artificial Intelligence) driven platforms. The company was co-founded by Dr.

Chris Lai, a recipient of the MIT Innovation Award in Clean Energy and Water Treatment, Dr. Hongming Chen, who is a MIT graduate and member of the U. S. National Academy of Engineering, and Dr.

Wenshou Wang who holds a Ph. D. in Polymer Chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and completed postdoctoral research in Chemistry at the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Minnesota. METiS TechBio has established major subsidiaries including onshore ones in Hangzhou, Suzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, China and offshore ones in Hong Kong, Australia and the United States.

In June 2025, the company was converted into a joint-stock company. In May 2026, METiS TechBio raised HKD 2. 11 billion in an IPO, selling 201. 23 million shares at HKD 10.

METiS TechBio develops and uses AI-driven nanomaterial platforms and AI-driven formulation technology to design precise and effective therapeutic delivery and accelerate the development of innovative medicines. The company has three specialized solution platforms (namely AiTEM, AiLNP and AiRNA platforms built on the foundation of NanoForge, the company's integrated dry-wet lab infrastructure) that simulate, predict, and interpret nanoscale interactions, enabling the rational design, optimization, and validation of advanced nanomaterials and their associated payloads, and has built a lipid library comprising over 10 million structurally diverse lipids that serve as the foundational building blocks for targeted delivery. Based on the AI platforms, METiS TechBio has also developed multiple pipeline products in different stages, covering CNS (central nervous system), metabolism, oncology, immunology and animal health.

METiS TechBio operates based on a dual business model integrating its AI-driven nanomaterial platforms and the services rendered thereunder and its internally developed therapeutic assets. On one hand, the company generates revenue by providing AI-driven drug formulation services with its AI platforms, licensing its proprietary technologies, and commercializing its innovative drug delivery systems to pharmaceutical companies and research institutions; On the other hand, it, in parallel, develops and out-license its own pipeline products. Following the IPO in May 2026, METiS TechBio will continue to advance its core technology centered around its AI-driven nanomaterial platforms, enabling more precise nano-delivery across different organs and cell types, bring its AI-driven nanomaterial platforms to broader range of human healthcare applications, build a comprehensive ecosystem in China and globally centered around its nanomaterial technologies and expand its technologies to the field of animal health.
