MaxAB

Based in Cairo, Egypt, and founded in 2018, MaxAB operates as a developer of a mobile application that enables grocery retailers to order from wholesale food producers. The company was co-founded by Belal EL-Megharbel and Mohamed Ben Halim and is backed by investors co-led by Beco Capital and 4DX Ventures in a USD 55 million total Series A funding round in July and August of 2021. It acquired Morocco-based B2B e-commerce and distribution platform WaystoCap for an undisclosed amount in August 2021. The company has 1,600 employees as of August 2021.

MaxAB provides a mobile platform that allows store owners to purchase goods, request delivery or logistics to move the goods, and access a customer support team. The company serves a network of traditional retailers across Egypt, using technologies and supply chains to help put the correct amount of food and groceries at the right place at the right time. It has supplied more than 55,000 retailers and fulfilled more than one million orders. MaxAB plans to expand its market across the Middle East and North Africa besides launching new product offerings and grow its team.

It also plans to accelerate its expansion into the Maghreb market— Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia, coinciding with its acquisition of WaystoCap.
