Based in Mumbai, India, and founded in 2005 by founder Mehernosh Daruwalla, Lotus Surgicals Pvt. Ltd. , aka Louts Surgical, Lotus designs, develops, and manufactures surgical equipment such as absorbable and non-absorbable sutures, surgical meshes, clips, and surgical kits. The company has a 15,000-square feet manufacturing area, which consists of 20 class 10,000 clean rooms of varying sizes.

The Lotus facility is an integrated manufacturing facility, producing finished products, as well as primary finished packaging. In addition, the company has developed a quality management system (QMS) to provide assurance that all systems are designed and implemented as per the standard norms. In March 2023, Tube Investments of India Limited will acquire a 67% majority stake and Premji Invest will acquire a 33% minority stake in Lotus Surgicals Pvt. Ltd.

Samara Capital will exit its stake in the company. Lotus Surgicals offers a wide range of absorbable and non-absorbable braided and monofilament sutures, catering to every specialty, including cardiovascular and plastic surgery. Absorbable surgical sutures are for general soft tissue approximation or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures. The non-absorbable suture materials are easier to tie, are unlikely to break prematurely, and have a negligible inflammatory response.

The company also offers other medical devices, including different varieties of surgical mesh, clips and appliers, surgical staplers, surgical kits, and more. Surgical mesh provides medical textiles for the manufacture of hernia mesh, surgical mesh, and other medical devices. Surgical skin staplers are designed and developed for special surgical requirements. This premium range of skin staplers is accurately designed, simple to use, gives uniform tension, and reduces tissue compression and trauma.
