Based in Middlesex, UK and founded in 1842, LGC Science Group Holdings Limited is a biotechnology and life science company that focuses on providing laboratory services including genomics reagents and instrumentation, drug development and technology platforms to the healthcare sector. The company, previously known as The Laboratory of the Government Chemist, was privatised and renamed LGC in 1996, and is nowadays owned by Cinven, Astorg and ADIA affiliated funds. LGC Science Group is also the UK National Measurement Laboratory and Designated Institute for chemical and bio-measurement. As of June 2021, the company has 4,350 employees.
