About

Founded in 2010 by Sebastian Thrun, and based in California, US, Kitty Hawk Corporation was a flying taxi company. In July 2018, Kitty Hawk Corporation received USD 1 million of grant funding from Defense Innovation Unit Experimental (DIUx). The company's product, Cora was spun off in late 2019 into a joint venture with Boeing. The joint venture was named Wisk which is developing and commercializing electric, self-flying air taxis.


Lastly, in September 2022, the company Corporation discontinued its operations.   Kitty Hawk mainly focused on developing prototype offerings for two all-electric aircraft – the Flyer and the Cora. Hawk Flyer, was an eVTOL [electric vertical takeoff and landing] aircraft, and Cora was a two-person, autonomous flying commercial taxi.
