Zhijian Chen, the general manager of the company, graduated from Zhejiang University and participated in the CPU research and development of Zhongtianwei. It cooperated with RISC-B, The Linux Foundation, and other enterprises. In July 2023, the company joined BOE's "AIOT Partner Set Sail Program". In January 2026, SpacemiT raised over CNY 600 million in series B funding from returning investors Huaxia Hengtian Asset Management, Shunxi Fund, Brizan Ventures, Lenovo Venture Capital, new investor Agricultural Bank of China, and other investors.

The company puts the RISC-V architecture as the cornerstone and the computing chip as the carrier to provide high-performance RISC-V processor chips and computing solutions with integrated hardware and software optimization. Its products include compiler debuggers, the Linux kernel and development boards. Products can be applied in edge computing and cloud computing, such as intelligent robots, high-performance computing boxes, edge servers, new-generation intelligent cloud terminals and automatic driving. The company generates revenue by providing RISC-V high-performance CPU chips and related products.
