Founded in 1998 by founder Andrea Pignataro, and based in London, UK, ION Group operates as a provider of cloud-based software solutions that allows central banks, financial institutions, and enterprises to automate business processes, manage liquidity and mitigate risks. ION Group owns ION Trading, a provider of electric flow trading solutions in which TA originally completed an investment in 2004. Following TA’s investment in 2011, ION acquired a number of additional companies, including Wall Street Systems, a provider of FX trade processing and treasury solutions; Patsystems, a provider of trading and exchange systems to the derivatives community; Financial Software Systems, a financial risk-management software and consulting firm; IT2, a provider of SaaS-based treasury management solutions; FFastFill, a SaaS provider to the global derivatives community; and Triple Point, Technology, a provider of commodity trading and risk management solutions. In March 2023, eToro (UK) Ltd.

raised USD 250 million in series F funding from Softbank Capital, Velvet Sea Ventures, and ION Group, with participation from  Social Leverage Capital and Spark Capital. As of 2024, The current CEOs of ION Group include Jody Drulard, Phillip Spencer, and Russell Brace.   ION’s core product offerings focus on automation technology that enhances decision-making, operational efficiency, and process simplification for financial institutions, central banks, and corporations. The company’s software solutions include advanced tools for asset management, compliance, derivatives, equities, secured funding, and core banking.
