Founded in 2015 by its CEO, Sumir Meghani, and co-founder, Saureen Shah, and based in California, US, Garuda Labs, Inc. , doing business as Instawork, operates as an online and mobile platform that connects various businesses with professionals, catering to both job seekers and companies. In May 2023, Instawork raised USD 60 million in series D funding led by TCV, with participation from 9Yards Capital. Returning investors Benchmark Capital, Craft Ventures, Four Rivers Group, Greylock Partners, GV, and Spark Capital, also participated in the round.

Instawork offers a recruitment platform that connects various businesses to hourly workers, allowing them to search, message, and hire workers on an hourly basis in food and beverage, warehousing and manufacturing, cleaning, retail companies, and at stadiums, conventions, and events. The company’s platform allows job seekers to create a profile, highlight their skills, and experience, and browse through available job listings, along with the opportunity to gain new skills, build their network, and earn income on a flexible schedule. The company generates revenue by charging companies hiring fees. The company plans to use the May 2023 funding to further develop its artificial intelligence workforce application.
