About

Founded in 2016 by Ignacio Martinez and others, and based in Massachusetts, US, Inari Agriculture, Inc. aka Inari, develops a plant breeding technology and provides genomic modifying tools to help improve global seed diversity for growers, consumers, and the environment. In December 2024, Inari Agriculture, Inc. raised USD 144 million in series G from Hanwha Impact Partners, NGS Super, Flagship Pioneering, and State of Michigan Retirement Systems, with participation from Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.

The series G funding values Inari Agriculture, Inc. at USD 2. 23 billion post-money. As of September 2025, the company is led by its intern CEO, Ignacio Martinez.

The company uses plant breeding technology to build a new, more sustainable food system by unlocking the full potential of the seed. The company’s SEEDesign platform can enhance any crop to grow on any geography and develop step-change seed products with a clear go-to-market approach.   The Inari SEEDesign platform follows a two-step approach. First, the platform uses predictive design to create a deep understanding of the genes through artificial intelligence, and then it builds blueprints for its gene-editing tools to perform multiple edits within a single genome.

These edits help create a seed that increases yield while reducing the footprint of agriculture. This approach helps advance products to market in less time and with less expense. Inari generates revenue by commercializing its proprietary SEEDesign™ platform, which combines AI-powered predictive design and multiplex gene editing to develop high-performing seeds. Its revenue streams include licensing seed technologies to independent seed companies, strategic collaborations, and product sales focused on large-acre crops like corn, soybeans, and wheat.

The organization plans to use the December 2024 funding to accelerate its pure-play seed technology and support its future growth.
